The following list is a small subset of our experience. These were the most interesting projects that took place in the last 3-4 years:
RCMP
Implementation of the DNA database project. This project involved installation of two DNA analysis machines at the headquarters of the RCMP in Ottawa, development of the DNA database software, and implementing the infrastructure to collect the DNA evidence. Mr. Rakos was involved in the latter, including writing a Project Charter, Project Plan (including scoping, scheduling and costing the project), Risk Management Policy, Risk Management Plan, and Training Plan.
HEALTH CANADA
Provided Project Management and Microsoft Project roll-up systems, developed scope (Work Breakdown Structures) for many projects including planning systems, newsletter publishing, contract management.
One of the most interesting projects was a schedule that helps reduce the amount of time it takes to approve a new drug. The time was reduced from 18 mos to less than 12.
CFIA
At the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, helped implement a methodology for the development of software, provide training on this, help scope software porjects.
For the Regulatory, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs division of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency: for the dozens of regulatory projects happening at once, helped to develop a project roll-up strategy, scope the projects, develop Work Breakdown templates, and develop a project roll-up and reporting system.
CRA
Many projects were done for CRA, the most recent the development of a project roll-up and reporting systems for the A Benefits A projects. This involved the roll-up of all the Provincial, Territorial, and Headquarters sections of the ABA project for a simple report to show project status, issues, risks and action items.
RCMP
Many projects were done for the RCMP, the most notable being the development and subsequent training on Risk Evaluation in a dangerous situation. As a result of the Meyerthorpe murders, where 4 young inexperienced officers entered a building where a deranged and armed drug user lived. The man killed all the officers. Now there is a risk checklist that helps decide whether or not to enter a building, call for backup, or other action.
AUDITOR GENERAL'S OFFICE
Developed a roll-up of the hundreds of Audit projects, status, responsibility, schedule, issues, and other data.
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
Customized Project Management training course developed for the Stakeholder Relations Directorate. The Director General was a past student of Mr. Rakos' MBA classes. See where good education gets you!
Many other projects were done. Please Contact Us if you have a special requirement.
